It has recently been reported in a major newspaper (link below) that an insurance company has alleged that industrial deafness claims have quadrupled and they have asked a for a crack down on “spurious claims”.

Much of the recent reforms in Personal Injury over the last 18 months seems to have come at the request of the insurance industry, backed by the Association of British Insurers (ABI). The fact that there is an actual party at fault for causing an accident/injury is often overlooked.

Articles such as the one above highlight the insurance companies continued drive to deprive genuine Claimant’s who have been injured by their employers/third party’s negligence.

Exposure to high levels of noise can cause permanent hearing loss. Neither surgery nor a hearing aid can help correct this type of hearing loss. Short term exposure to loud noise can also cause a temporary change in hearing or a ringing in your ears (tinnitus). Repeated exposures to loud noise can lead to permanent tinnitus and/or hearing loss.

Jobs such as textiles, printing, car manufacturing, factory operatives working with machinery, are typical occupations where a person could be exposed to excessive levels of noise.
